What’s your favorite part about summer in California? Mine is the fact that beautiful beaches are all within an hour from me. As most of you know, I moved to Los Angeles last July, and it has been the best decision of my life! I love the weather out here because it is always sunny. However, I must admit the weather has been a little unusual lately! Are you guys feeling the heat on the first day of summer?! I know I am!

I noticed at the beaches here that the water is a little cold, and there’s usually a soft refreshing breeze when you are walking around. I love that there’s more to do at the beaches than just swim in the water. I don’t have to wear a bathing suit if I am walking around the pier. I also get to enjoy visiting the shops on the boardwalk.

I never like to get in the  water. The deep blue ocean and the waves scare me because I fear the unknown and know I am not in control. I’ve never really had good experiences swimming at the beach. The waves always end up washing me to the shore, tumbling me around as I drink gallons of salt water (exaggeration of course haha). Why would I want to do that when I can enjoy the view by tanning, dipping my feet in the sand, and running my toes at the edge of the water.

Walking around the pier in Santa Monica is actually really entertaining because I get to people-watch. If you are from California, you must agree that this beach attracts all sorts of interesting people! And I mean that in the best way possible! If you want to enjoy a peaceful beach, read a book and take a nap, the beaches in Malibu is the place to go. The view is absolutely breathtaking.

The beach was breezy when I did this shoot, but it was much needed because I was walking around in the hot sun for hours in Santa Monica.

Talking more about this outfit, I’ll start off by saying that I don’t own many high-waisted shorts, so I’ve been on a hunt for them. Majority of what I find are either too long or the waist is just too big! Being petite, it is hard to find any clothing that fits me properly. Thank goodness for Forever 21 and Charlotte Russe shorts, their XS shorts fit me perfectly! Not too tight nor too loose. These blue/white polka dots shorts from Forever 21 were perfect to wear that day. It hugged me in all the right places. The fabric is lightweight and breathable.

If you know me at all, I have an obsession with lace so of course my top had to be a white lace shirt from Express. I wore a white cami underneath and love the fact that the lace shirt was long sleeves so it contrasted perfectly with the white cami underneath. With the long sleeves I can show some skin on my arms and at the same time feel the breeze against my skin. I think lace is is very seductive, especially black lace that barely covers your skin. But overall, any lace clothing is great!

So if you don’t feel like going for a swim at the beach here in California, don’t worry about coming to the beach wearing normal clothing because there are many other things to do. You can still look super cute and comfortable with shorts and a cute top!

Have a great start to your summer! Till next time,

Linh
