Love Isn’t Saved For Just One Day
Happy Valentine‘s Day! Who here doesn‘t celebrate or believe in this holiday?
The reason I ask is because I am indifferent when it comes to Valentine‘s Day. To me Valentine‘s Day is more than just being in a relationship. You can be single and still celebrate it! You can share your love with your family, friends, pets, plants, even your self or anything you love, and it doesn‘t have to be about flowers and chocolate. Some don‘t even celebrate Valentine‘s Day while some do. I believe that we don‘t need a day like this to remind us that we are loved or that someone loves us. There is no right or wrong.
I have to admit, when I was younger, I always looked forward to Valentine‘s Day because in elementary school we all get to pass out cards and candies to everyone in our class. So everyone was your Valentine, and if you are lucky, you get a bonus from your crush. But the real reason was that I love getting lots of heart shaped candies that gave me tons of cavities after (just like Halloween). In middle and highschool, it was the excitement of having a Valentine such as someone special and I used to think that Valentine‘s Day was all about a guy giving chocolate and flowers to a girl because that is what we were told to do. So if we didn‘t get any gifts from a guy, it just means we were single and nobody loves us. HAHA what a cruel joke.
But as I got older and went through relationships, I honestly have to say it really is just another day to me now. I know! Some of you may get mad at me for saying that but is really how I feel. Maybe it is because I don‘t like feeling like I should get flowers and chocolate from that special someone to prove that I am loved on a certain date. Or it could be my past relationships that made me synical of this day. Whatever the reason may be, I believe Valentine‘s Day shouldn‘t just be about flower and chocolate. You don‘t have to be in a relationship to celebrate. It should be about love everywhere and to everyone on any given day. Sometimes, we all get so caught up in the things we should do on this holiday such as having a Valentine and getting/receiving gifts, we tend to forget why this holiday existed in the first place.
So call me weird, from a relationship standpoint, I am that type of gal who likes to get flowers and chocolate on a random day just because someone is thinking of me and loves me. Heck, just buy me fried chicken and you sure have my heart! My favorite chocolate and flowers can be a bonus (*wink*wink). My point is, I don‘t mind if my boyfriend doesn‘t give me flowers or chocolate on Valentine‘s Day because every other day that isn‘t Valentine‘s Day, I know he loves me by his actions and words. I don‘t need one day out of the year to know that. I want 365 days of loving and caring, is that too much to ask? LOL I rather have someone who is like that throughout the year instead of not treating me right until Feb 14 because that is one day out of the year they have to be nice to me. Ladies and gents, if you have that person in your life. GET RID OF THEM. LOVE YOURSELF because you deserve better! 😀
Now from another view, this day shouldn‘t make you feel any less because you are single. YOU ARE SINGLE. That just means you can pick any Valentine, but none were good enough to have your love. Haha but on a serious note, if you want to partake in the festivities in celebrating this holiday, you can show your love with your friends, your pet (cat in my case), your hobbies, your family and anything you hold close to your heart (food in my case). This day is supposed to be about love, so spread the love.
With all of that fried chicken talk, I forgot to ask what you guys are wearing today. I‘ll start by sharing with you all what I‘m wearing. This lovely bell sleeves romper that I got from Forever 21. It is all 50 shades of pink/purple! Typically I wear red because when you think of Valentine‘s Day, the day of love, you automatically think of red. Well, at least I do! This light weight romper reminds me of spring. Super light weight and very comfortable for the occassion. Plus who doesn‘t love bell sleeves now adays? I can twirl in this outfit all day long. I wore my favorite pointed fuchsia colored heels from Aldo, they are very comforable. Can you tell I am all about being comfortable and still staying fashionable! I kept this look very simple because I didn‘t want to take away from the details of this romper. I mean, look at it. How cute is it?! The moment I saw this romper, I had to have it. I didn‘t even try it on because I already knew how it would look. I felt so young and flirty in this romper.
I picked this bright romper to wear to offset the gloomy weather in LA. I had so much fun shooting this look at Alfred‘s Coffee shop in Studio City. Being a Disney fanatic, I had to do a shoot here because Minnie Mouse was there! I enjoyed my delicious latte while sitting outside people-watching, and just enjoying the moment with Minnie Mouse and my new friend Frank the Basset. Plus Minnie Mouse makes a great backdrop especially with how cute she looks in her dress! Don‘t you agree?
So with that being said, I hope you all enjoy your Valentine‘s Day however you like to spend it! I will be working most of the day and counting down the hours to eat Korean Fried Chicken for dinner, and maybe finish a box of my favorite chocolate. Just remember, love is unlimited so share it, be kind, beautiful and don‘t wait until Feb 14 to tell someone you love them. Tell them now!
One last thing, I love you guys so much and thank you for always being supportive of me and allowing me to express my thoughts.
Love Linh

I love your perspective on Valentine’s Day and how it’s about love in general than just relationships in love xx

I agree with you 100% Linh! Valentine’s Day is just another day to me. My husband spoils me every single day so this holiday isn’t really anything special. I also feel the exact same way from elementary to middle school haha, candies were always exciting to get for valentines and receiving just a single rose from your crush in middle school makes your heart thump! I love your outfit here and this is such a lovely reminder for those that feel they need to do something for Valentine’s day!

I definitely agree what you said. 🙂 Love isn’t just about one day, but it is about every day. So for me, Valentines has never been a day that is that big of a deal. 🙂 It’s the daily little things that accumulate and count.

I love your outfit, so cute and colorful and I also agree that that Valentine’s Day should be celebrated everyday.

I agree that Valentine’s Day should be about love, and it’s ok if you celebrate with friends or family you love, or even a pet! Haha. I always celebrated and loved the holiday even before I started dating!! But you have a point, when you are in a relationship, you should be showing each other you love them every day! Not just February 14th! 😉

You look great in that romper. That spot is so cute. I love the cup you had too. How adorable. I don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day. I usually like to have dinner at home or do something really casual just to spend some time with the husband though. He’s always so good to me, makes me coffee most mornings and buys me flowers all the time… it makes no sense to celebrate. I hope you had an amazing Valentine’s! 🙂

This was such a refreshing reflection of what Valentine’s means to you and I agree with you on almost everything. To me it’s just another Hallmark holiday created to make people spend money on something incredibly unnecessary and stressing their behinds off to make the day perfect. And I’m not just saying that because I’m single. I’ve always been the same, single or not. 🙂 On the other hand I agree with you that love should be celebrated every day of the year and if I had a significant other I’d make sure he’d buy me fried chicked too and I’d love him ever so much more than if he gave me some forced upon roses on Valentine’s, haha.

Okay first of all, this outfit is so flirty and cute and I need that romper in my life! Secondly, I totally agree with you on Valentine’s Day. I think it’s kind of a silly holiday that everyone takes too seriously, but it can be fun too! I just hate that pressures and societal expectations are pushed down our throats so seriously on Valentine’s Day.

First of all you look gorgeous in that floral romper darling. As for V-Day, my view has changed over the years. Before, it was a really a big deal for me, but with time, it has become less! I think it’s important to focus on self love first as it’s the pillar of everything. However, there’s nothing wrong with all the LOVE manifestation we witness on V-Day, I’d take that anytime compared to the horror we see everyday on the news etc … Love can be shown in so many ways, every single day!

I’m totally fine with Valentine’s Day being about chocolate, but otherwise I agree that everyday should be about love haha. Love the cute flower number on you. Super flirty!

Love is definitely the most important factor to take from Valentine’s. We must also love ourselves before we can love anyone else properly. On another note, I love that romper and the laced up back details!

Happy Valentine’s Day babe! I totally agree with you regarding the meaning of this day and celebrating even if you’re single. With my kids I am going through the fun stage of elementary where everyone is a friend and Valentine. I can see as they get older how this holiday will affect them too. Self love is most important to realize and also that being single is a good thing too. I love this pretty floral romper and the lace up back detail. Can’t wait for spring to sport some more rompers soon. xoxo, Christine

Oh my goodness, this coffee shop! Where is it?! So stinkin cute. I’m obsessed with your Forever 21 romper. Love the pops of magenta and the lace of details in the back. Such a cute and girly look for this holiday! I also really like the meaning behind this post. You don’t have to be in a relationship to celebrate. Just spend it with the people you love. Happy Valentine’s Day, love!

That dress is absolutely gorgeous on you! I have a similar view on Valentine’s Day as I rather get little things on a random day than a holiday. But I also love the fact that people can express their love on this day as well!
